What We Do

Our general pest treatments are primarily focused on controlling cockroaches and ants, which are the most common problem pests in Cairns. Spiders are also treated as part of the service, typically as a targeted spot treatment.

Inside the home, we inspect and treat cracks, crevices and other harbourage areas where pests live and hide, along with accessible areas such as skirting boards, window sills and similar surfaces. Where a roof void is reasonably accessible via a manhole, a dust treatment is applied, as this area commonly harbours pest activity.

Outside, we treat key entry points such as doorways and window frames, along with other areas where pests are likely to enter, helping to reduce pest entry into the home.

Each treatment is tailored to the specific pest issue at the property. Where multiple pests are present, the approach may be adjusted to prioritise the most active or problematic pests and achieve the most effective overall result.

What to Expect After Treatment

Cockroaches

In a tropical environment like Cairns, cockroach pressure is naturally high year-round due to warmth, humidity and surrounding vegetation. A professional treatment is designed to prevent an infestation inside the home.

Following treatment, you should notice a rapid reduction in activity indoors. It is normal to see dead or dying cockroaches over the following days as they come into contact with treated areas.

Over the next couple of weeks, it is also possible to see small (juvenile) cockroaches emerging from egg cases that were protected from the initial treatment. As these move through treated areas, they come into contact with the product and are controlled.

You may occasionally see a live cockroach that has recently entered the property. The expectation is that it will seek shelter in treated areas and be affected shortly after.

Treatments typically remain effective for up to 12 months. However, in tropical conditions, factors such as heat, humidity and rainfall can reduce how long treatments remain effective. For this reason, follow-up treatments every 6 to 12 months are recommended to maintain control.

It is also not uncommon to find the occasional dead or dying cockroach weeks or even months after treatment, particularly after wet periods or favourable conditions when cockroaches move indoors seeking harbourage. This is generally an indication that the treatment is still active and working as intended, as these pests are coming into contact with treated areas.

Ants

In a tropical environment like Cairns, ant activity is common year-round due to warmth, moisture and surrounding vegetation. A professional treatment is designed to bring ant activity under control and prevent it from becoming an ongoing issue inside the home.

Following treatment, ant activity is typically brought under control quickly.

In some cases, particularly with species such as coastal brown ants, you may notice an increase in fine dust or debris around nesting areas. This is a normal part of the process, as ants remove dead ants from the nest. This material often consists of fine fragments of dead ants (exoskeletons) being pushed out as the treatment takes effect.

It is also common for ant activity to stop and then return briefly a few weeks later as new ants emerge from eggs that were not affected by the initial treatment. As these ants move through treated areas, they come into contact with the product and are also controlled.

Occasional reappearance can occur due to surrounding colonies and environmental conditions. Seeing the occasional ant indoors is not a cause for concern, as ants will often enter in search of food but are typically controlled before becoming an issue.
